Dr. Omagino is a consultant cardiac surgeon and executive director at the Uganda Heart Institute. He is also a member of the Institute’s Board of Directors and past president of the Uganda Heart Association.

He has been a visiting lecturer for over 10 years and has supervised over 50 post-graduate medical research studies at the College of Health Sciences – Makerere University. Dr. Omagino has been instrumental in establishing cardiac services in Uganda and his life goal is to improve access to cardiac care for children and young adults in low and middle-income countries like Uganda.

He has received Medals and Awards such as the Independence medal, Rotary District 9200, Ministry of Health Outstanding Achievement Award and the Visionaries leaders’ award among others, for his outstanding contributions in promoting cardiac care in Uganda. Dr. Omagino is currently a member of the American College of Cardiology.
