To address critical gaps in Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in refugee and host communities of Palorinya Refugee Settlement, ChildFund in collaboration with UNHCR, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and other education stakeholders, undertook a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the state of ECD centres in this refugee settlement. The study revealed major challenges, including limited teacher capacity, poor teacher-to-child ratios, inadequate classroom infrastructure, lack of school feeding programs, untrained Centre Management Committees, unlicensed centers and shortages of play and learning materials. In response to these findings, ChildFund designed and launched the Good Start in Education Project in June 2024.

  • To ensure children 0-6 years in Palorinya refugee settlement and host communities achieve age appropriate early childhood development milestones.
